Edna Whaley

Edna Whaley passed from this life into eternity, without any apparent sickness or warning, on April 6, 2024. She simply laid her head back during breakfast and woke up in glory.

Born January 7, 1934, in the small community of Cooper, KY, the 12th child of 14 to the late Willie & Myrtie Burgess, of Monticello, Ky. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Robert Whaley, Sr. and 12 of her siblings. Survived by one sister Ruth (Ron) Konen, two children Paula (Jay) Heckathorn and Robert Whaley II, one grandson, Robert Whaley III and two step granddaughters, Jackie and Nina Heckathorn and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who will always cherish her as “Sweet little Aunt Edna.”

She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and nurse, but most importantly she was a Godly Apostolic woman whose life revolved around her church. She loved the Lord with all of her heart, mind and soul and will dwell in the House of the Lord forever. 

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hodapp Funeral Home and services will be held at The Tree of Life Church, 6477 Cooper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242 on April 15, 2024. Open visitation from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with the funeral service, officiated by Pastor Joel Urshan beginning at 12:30 PM. Final interment at Arlington Memorial Gardens.

Mike Barnhart

Phillip Michael “Mike” Barnhart Sr, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away on April 5, 2024 at the age of 79. Mike was born on October 18, 1944, to the late Chester and Marie (nee Welch) Barnhart.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Josephine “Jo” (nee Foley), with whom he shared 60 years of marriage, marked by unwavering devotion and mutual respect. He was also the devoted father to Phil (Rhonda) Barnhart Jr and Jeff (Ginni) Barnhart. Loving grandfather to Andrew (Corey) Barnhart, Justin Barnhart, Meghan (Jack) Adamo, and Autumn (Stephon) Meadows. Mike is also survived by his great grandchildren, Jack and Moria Jo.

Mike was a jack-of-all-trades from southeast Ohio. Along with being a skilled woodworker, he was a proficient guitar player with an immense love for southern gospel music. Mike never knew a stranger, and enjoyed sharing his wealth of knowledge to anyone who would lend an ear. He loved his family deeply and will be missed by many.

A funeral service in Mike’s honor will be held on Saturday, April 13, at the Tree of Life Church (6477 Cooper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242) at 2:00 PM where guests will be received from 1:00 PM until time of service. A burial with the immediate family will take place at a later date.

Geneva Schneider

Geneva E. Schneider, 87, of Amelia, passed away at 9:58 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Pine Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in Vester, Kentucky, on September 14, 1936, to the late Chester and Clara (Burriss) Dooley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Schneider, and eleven siblings.

She is survived by four children: Greg Schneider, Lisa England, Robert Schneider, and Darren Schneider; a sister, Carol Lockhart; eleven grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren; nineteen great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at E.C. Nurre Funeral Homes, 177 W. Main Street, Amelia, OH 45102, where Pastor Joel Urshan will lead a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in Graceland Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Geneva’s memory, to the Tree of Life Church, 6477 Cooper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242.

Beulah Scott

Beulah Mae Scott (nee Sandusky) was born on March 2, 1934 and passed on February 2, 2024.

She is survived by son Danny Hizer, Christine Hughes (sister), the late Claude Sandusky (brother), the late Imogene Smith (sister), Everette Sandusky (brother), the late Ica Carmichael (sister), the late Ken Sandusky (brother), the late Maxine Allen (sister), the late Alene Townsly (sister), the late Carl Sandusky (brother), and many nieces and nephews.

Beulah was a praying mother and generous giver to all. She grew up in a small town in Kentucky and moved to Cincinnati in 1949 where she attended church for over 70 years. She loved the Lord and was always a caregiver. She retired as an Administrative Secretary. She loved to cook and nobody left her house hungry. She passed on to be with the Lord in her sleep in her 90th year.

Visitation will take place at the Tree of Life Church, Finneytown Campus at 7630 View Place Dr., Finneytown, on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 10 AM until Funeral Service at 11 AM.

Betty Swango

Betty Mae Swango, age 91, passed away in Bowling Green, Kentucky on January 27, 2024. She was born to the late Joseph Roe and Elva Meece Wilson in Cincinnati on November 13, 1932. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Edgar Wilson and Beecher Wilson, and sister Marilyn Wilson.

The family moved to Kentucky where they worked an 80-acre farm. After graduation from Russell County High School, Betty returned to Cincinnati, living with her sister Shirley and working as a secretary. Friends arranged a blind date for Betty with a young soldier from church named Harold Chester Swango. They married in 1953, celebrating their 70th anniversary this past August. Once Harold’s military service ended, they purchased a home and lived in Cincinnati. For many years they were members of Calvary Pentecostal Church where Betty taught Sunday School and was active in the Ladies Auxiliary. They moved to Bowling Green in 2006 to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. She was also devoted to her large extended family of siblings, cousins, and many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember ‘Aunt Betty’ portraying Santa Claus at the family reunions in Frankfort every Thanksgiving. She was always quick to laugh, ready to embrace, and eager to share. Betty will be remembered by friends and family for her warmth, kindness, generosity, and tomato gravy.

Survivors include her husband, Harold and their daughter Tamara Snyder and her husband, Larry. Grandchildren: Jeremy Snyder and his wife Mary Meghan, Kaitlyn Greer and her husband Dylan. Three great grandchildren: Lena Snyder, Joseph Harold Snyder, and Everett Greer. Siblings: Shirley Wilson, Mary Smither, J.R. Wilson, and Doug Wilson. Several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family also survive.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, with funeral service conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024. All will be held at the J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, 820 Lovers Lane, Bowling Green, KY 42103. Expressions of Sympathy may be made to Crosspoint Church (5737 Cemetery Road, Bowling Green, Kentucky 42103).
