Jacquelyn R. Sizemore (nee Bobo), wife of the late Bishop Joe D. Sizemore, Sr. was born in Harlingen, Texas on February 10, 1933 and went to her heavenly reward on July 17, 2021 at the age of 88 yrs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Pauline Bobo and stepfather, Ben Pitman. Her brother Donny Bobo and sister Debbie Alldredge and brother-in-law Jack Sizemore
She is survived by her 4 children, daughter Cheri (Billy) Tummond, sons Rev. David (Vickie) Sizemore and Dan (Toni) Sizemore, daughter Celecia (Dave) Wheeler. Sisters, Connie Medows, Delona Newman, Tana Osgood, Mary Holley, and brother, Jerry (Mary Lou) Bobo and sister-in-law’s Joy Allen and Karen Sizemore, 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
She was known as Jackie and “Nan” and was the oldest of eight children and third generation Apostolic. Raised on a farm, she learned the meaning of hard work and perseverance. She received the gift of the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus Name at a young age. She had a personality that was magnetic and influential. During her High School years she was selected to be “Football Sweetheart” and was honored to represent her home town and country as “Miss Centennial” in 1949.
Throughout her teenage years she always had a heart for God and demonstrated an intimate familiarity with God’s Word. She was grounded in courage and strength. She was relentless in prayer and intercession. She started playing the piano at age 7. After graduating from High School she attended Business College in Ft. Worth, Texas. While in Fort Worth she went to church to hear an Evangelist named Joe David Sizemore from Dawson Springs KY who was preaching the service. It was love at first sight. They fell in love and married in August of 1952 in Austin, Texas.
Both felt the call of the Lord to Cincinnati, Ohio. On January 1, 1953, Joe David (age 21) and Jackie (age 19) came to Cincinnati and they became pastor of the Full Gospel Church located at 2506 Vine St. Cincinnati, Ohio. Over the next fifty plus years they built two churches, Carthage Apostolic Church at 26 North Bend Rd, and Covenant Apostolic Church (currently Gracepoint Church) at 7630 View Place Dr. in Finneytown.
She was always faithful in her many roles as pastor’s wife, hostess, leader, teacher, musician, singer, choir director, and mentor. Her passion was to humbly serve her church family by example, leading many people to the Lord and doing it all with dignity and grace.
In the meantime, her personal family was growing as well. She always had abundant love and pride for her children. Then the wonderful arrival of grandchildren and great grandchildren in which she took great delight in spoiling! She loved the roll as “Nan Sizemore” and has always been a strong influence and inspiration in their lives.
Through the years she created “Covenant Women’s Ministry” which involved cell groups and instructing women to “Pray the Word”. With God’s anointing on her life, she began to travel and speak at camp meetings and conferences sharing her burden for ladies’ ministry. She also would take ladies to different Ladies Conferences along with hosting Ladies Conferences leading women into a deeper experience with God.
Only heaven will be able to account for the many women, pastor’s wives and evangelist wives that she has impacted and mentored with her love, elegance and wisdom. She continued to invest in people and pass on this great Apostolic heritage.
As the years passed she was in more demand to be at home. Because of the failing health of her husband, she took on the new roll as caregiver. After several years of caring for her husband, God saw that his suffering should end and on New Year’s day of 2003, she lost her biggest supporter and her companion of over 50 years, Bishop Joe D. Sizemore. This was heartbreak like none she had ever experienced. She handled it like she has handled everything else, with dignity and grace. As she was saying goodbye to her beloved husband, she said “Honey, thank you for preaching the truth and standing for what is right”. Of course she had times of grief, sadness, loneliness but it never shook her faith and as she always stated, “This too shall pass”.
Oh what a legacy! A true Christian hero of faith. Always the preachers wife, church secretary, choir director, church janitor, musician, women’s conference speaker, and mentor to so many across the globe, but to her family she is still MOM!
The family will be receiving friends at Gracepoint Church located at 7630 View Place Dr., Finneytown, on Thursday, July 22, 2021 between 10AM – 12 Noon, with funeral service following at 12 Noon.
